Program Highlights, 2011-2012
General Program
· 2,255 middle school and 2,420 high school students successfully completed all program requirements
· 474 seniors graduated as Crosby Scholars
· The ten senior Crosby Scholars with the highest weighted quality point average represented five different high schools
· Six Crosby Scholars graduated as the valedictorian of their class
· 127 Scholars enrolled in the program in 6th grade and completed the requirements each year through the senior year without interruption
College Admission and Financial Aid
· Students are enrolled in more than 80 colleges and universities
· Seniors and their parents attended Financial Aid Workshops with hands on assistance in completing financial aid forms
· Early financial aid planning and college admissions workshops were attended by parents of middle school students during the
· More than $3.7 million in last dollar grants awarded since 1993
· $39 million in other financial aid leveraged since 1992
· More than $320,000 in last dollar grants awarded to Scholars for the 2012-13 year
· 98% of our seniors enrolled in a four or two-year college
Advising/Mentoring
· Special volunteer advisor recruitment and training for over 250 volunteers
· Grade advisors met with over 2,093 students in grades 9-11 to discuss grade appropriate topics for college planning
· Summer advisor sessions will be held with 627 rising seniors
· Senior Crosby Scholars receive a notebook of materials to assist them with the college admissions and financial aid process during the senior meeting
· Senior advisors conducted more than 2,600 individual advisor meetings with senior Crosby Scholars during the academic year
· Sessions Topics included Test Taking Skills, Note Taking Skills, Speech and Communications, College Survival Skills, SAT Prep, Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, Munchies Matter, Financing a College Education, Selective College Admissions, Career Exploration, and Freshman Year 101
· College admissions and financial aid workshops offered to parents
· SAT and College Admissions sessions offered to all junior Crosby Scholars
· Preparing for High School Session mandated for all rising 9th graders – including a high school panel and a review of high school graduation requirements
Community Service
· Students in grades 6-12 provided more than 60,000 hours of volunteer service to the community.
Special Student Enrichment Programs
· College Visitation Tours for rising eighth graders and junior Crosby Scholars
· Career Exploration Workshops and Career Day for eighth grade Crosby Scholars
· “It’s Our Call” drug and alcohol screening program participation required
· College Fairs required for high school students
· Reaching Academic Potential Program (RAPP) for ninth grade students
